THIRD GRADERS GET AN EDUCATION AT PAVILION PARK
March 31, 2014
Pavilion Park is more than a neighborhood. Its also a classroom. That was demonstrated recently when 30 third graders from the Waldorf School of Orange County went on a Pavilion Park field trip. Their educational experience included a tour of the decorated models at William Lyon Homes Whistler collection, and a tour of the Visitor Center, where they discovered that materials from the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station have been recycled as sun shade for the Visitor Center. One of the highlights of the field trip was a stop in the Pavilion Park Greenhouse, where the youngsters learned about growing vegetables, herbs and other plants. The students were especially entertained by displays of carnivorous plants that eat insects and other prey. Rounding out the field trip was a viewing of the map that highlights an extensive array of bikeways surrounding the Great Park Neighborhoods, and the students learned about all the trails in the area. Could todays third graders from the Waldorf School become future residents of Pavilion Park? The seeds have been sown.
