Orange County dropped from Great Park name
November 01, 2021
What’s in a name?
A name should convey more than where a place is — it should also communicate its spirit.
And to that end, during their meeting on July 27th, the Irvine City Council approved a modification to the name of Orange County Great Park. Moving forward, it will now simply be known as Great Park, reflecting its close connection to the surrounding neighborhoods, ownership and national appeal.
A public park nestled in the heart of Great Park Neighborhoods with trails, sports fields, playgrounds, a farmers market and more, Great Park offers local residents a front-row seat to everything the open greenspace has to offer.
“The City of Irvine is a top destination that is home to multiple attractions, including Great Park,” explains Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “We are proud of this state-of-the art amenity, which draws internationally-known artists, national sports teams and competitions, and visitors from across the country. The modified name better represents the City where it resides, and how this amenity is owned and operated.”
The rollout of this name change will occur in phases. For more information, visit Great Park’s webpage.
