July 10, 2019
The Orange County Great Park announces the opening of its summer art exhibition, A Brief History of the El Toro Air Show: 1950–1997. The exhibition runs Sunday, June 2, through Sunday, August 18, 2019.
Artist Paul Gavin has dedicated his career to the celebration of U.S. Armed Forces by contributing artwork to a number of military-related events, including the iconic El Toro Air Show of Orange County. A Brief History of the El Toro Air Show: 1950–1997 will feature Gavin’s work in conjunction with community members who have captured the history of the air show through photography and collected memorabilia. Great Park Gallery hours are noon–4 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
In conjunction with the Great Park Gallery’s summer exhibition, the Palm Court Arts Complex will become home to a series of musical events paying homage to the park’s history as the former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro. Enjoy a summer evening of dancing to big band, jazz, and swing music on Thursdays, June 27, July 25, and August 15, 7–9 p.m.
The Orange County Great Park is located at 8000 Great Park Blvd. in Irvine. Admission and parking for the exhibition and Palm Court Happenings are free.
